Breakthrough Dry Eye Treatment: E>Eye

Dry Eye Syndrome afflicts thousands of Australians

Until recently, the only ‘treatment’ was lubricating eye drops.  But all they do is provide very short term relief.
Now there’s a proven, painless and effective treatment that really makes a long term difference – E>Eye IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy. Just 3-4 treatments over a period of 6 weeks made a significant improvement in 86% of eyes treated in a recent study in New Zealand.A report by Associate Professor Jenny Craig of the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Auckland can be found here.

The Treatment

  • Each session only takes 3 to 5 minutes.
  • The skin is cleaned from any make-up or other cosmetics.
  • The optometrist places goggles on the patients’ eyes to protect them from the intense light generated by the device.
  • A clear gel is applied on the skin for the skin protection and optimum results.
  • A series of 5-6 flashes are applied under the lower eyelid.

Most people experience significant improvement after the second treatment, though some not until the third treatment.  A fourth ‘top-up’ treatment may be recommended after several weeks.
