Behavioural Optometry

A behavioural optometrist takes a holistic approach to vision care. Good vision is far more than seeing clearly. Good vision also includes:

  • how the eyes move and work together or eye-teaming
  • the stamina of the focus system, especially for close work
  • the information processing of vision by the brain

When any of these parts of the system have not developed normally, or are not working efficiently, children will experience increased difficulties at school and with learning.

A behavioural optometrist explores all these additional aspects of good vision and offers vision therapy (as well as glasses) to address these problems.
